What You Should Know About My Sessions By Carol Lavoie
What I need from you to make an appointment: When we schedule our appointment I discuss what will be done in the session and how long it is. The first session we have together is 1.5 hours and I will cover your natal chart and include a 6-9 month forecast for you. My suggestion is that you make another appointment for approximately 6-9 months down the road. The yearly forecast comprises all of your future sessions and it is approximately 1 hour or so long. Check or credit cards are fine as well as cash. All of my session are conducted only by telephone. If you are not in the local area, I will gladly telephone you long distance. You will need to have your exact birth time from the birth certificate on hand. As we talk I am recording our session digitally and will make you a CD and mail it to you so you can listen again to what we talked about. I leave a bit of time at the end of our session for quick questions, however, 99% of my clientele does not have any questions when finish our session. That tells me that I most likely did my job well.What to Expect in our First Session The first session is the explanation of your natal chart which includes some forecast information. I explain what is occurring now and look ahead for about 6 -9 months to help explain the future energies that you will encounter and how the cycles might repeat themselves. I do not tell you what to do - all decision making is yours to handle. However, based on the cycles and predictive techniques employed, I will explain what the energies are presenting and suggest how best to handle them. When we have a road map in front of us and we know when the smooth highways and bumpy roads are coming, it is much easier to reach our destination. When we understand how to handle all of life’s little surprises - when to make changes and when not to, when and why something is happening in our lives and the experience or wisdom that it is bringing - it is much easier to gain the awareness and utilize it for evolution of our soul. I begin every session with a brief prayer and invocation of gratitude. I refer to my sessions as ‘consultations’, not therapy sessions or ‘readings’. Although I do have a Master’s Degree plus, I do not feel that being a "therapist’ is my role in an astrological session. I believe that you know yourself better than anyone else does and encourage you to trust your instincts. I have designed my natal chart sessions so that you are given an in-depth glimpse of yourself through my observations of your chart - to explain your patterns of behavior, motivations, strengths, weaknesses, talents and life lessons. I call this just a glimpse because this first session is 1.5 hours long and each personality is so complex that such a short time together cannot reveal all that you are. However, I feel that this time is sufficient to offer you enough information to review, reflect, and muse upon to identify things that either you did not want to address or confirm what you already knew. So many clients will phone me up after our session to thank me for telling them certain things about themselves that they didn’t see before in their behavior but now do and understand the reason behind it. We are complex creatures, without a doubt! My Philosophy and Approach to Astrology There are so many different schools of thought in astrology and how to approach a natal chart in a session. Some astrologers believe that our roles are those of the therapist, psychotherapist, healer, counselor, chart ‘reader’ and some even believe that we are just plain astrologers and nothing else! Well, this is just the tip of the iceberg which not only involves our own school of astrological knowledge and role in the session but also fundamental beliefs about what astrology can actually provide for you, the client. My philosophy and approach to a session is really quite simple. I do use the traditional methods of Western astrology (not to be mistaken for the Classical approach) and the more humanistic approach brought to the forefront and popularized by the in-depth teachings of esteemed astrologer, Dane Rudhyar and modernized by other such renown astrologers as Steven Arroyo, Michael Meyers, Howard Sasportas, Richard Ideman and many others. For me approaching a chart is likened to watching an unopened flower before it blossoms - there is some color and form, but the essence is not yet fully revealed - exactly what shape it will take is not yet known. Those are the potentials - will the flower come to term intact? Be pollinated and bear fruit? Will some of the petals wither on the plant? Will certain petals fall away from outside stresses, will it be able to withstand attacks on its stem and roots from other influences? So when I first see a client and open my computer to their chart, I wonder at all of these potentials shown in the chart. Who are you and what will transpire in your life? I do feel that the chart is the reflection of the heavenly energies that each sensitive point embodies. I do feel that each of the archetypal energies are present in each of us at our disposal to aid us in fulfilling our daily and many-fold ‘ultimate’ purposes. I do consider reincarnation and do believe that life continues on after the change called death. But these beliefs are not imposed on a client when I sit with them for a counseling session. Sometimes clients call and ask if this will conflict with their religious beliefs. I tell them that it will not though I will make reference to God, or the Universal Spirit in our time together. When one is undergoing self realization spiritual foundations are involved as it is our essence but there is no conflict with one’s chosen religion. I explain that this session is all about you – who you are, what makes you uniquely you and how you can better understand and grow in conscious awareness to more successfully interface with your life. It's designed to assist in your personal evolution. Often people will ask if I am a psychic. I am not a psychic, though I am highly intuitive. And there is a difference. We are all intuitive to some degree. I feel that astrology is a holistic science. We need to study for years to be able to accurately and effectively counsel someone through their chart. Astrology is mathematically based. It’s calculations are completely from numerical data of the date, time and location of birth, with many adjustments and corrections being made for such things as time zones and daylight savings, precession corrected, type of zodiac used, house arrangement, etc. That is not psychic work! The chart yields a precisely calculated resultant horoscope. The entire chart is filled with precision of calculated numbers showing placements and geometrical angles, all things that an astrologer needs to understand clearly from long studies in order to safely and accurately delineate a chart. Fees for consultations: 1) Full Natal Chart Session - Our first full natal session is 1.5 hours long and includes a 6-9 month forecast. The fee is $155.00 and I digitally record the session, put it on CDs and mail them to you. 2) Yearly Update - Our next session will be the yearly update which is about 1 hour + long for $155.00 - the session is recorded on CD and mailed to you. 3) Relationship charts - $250.00 Accurately timed charts for both parties are required for relationship chart comparisons.
